Master Thesis: Evaluation of the influence of organic compost, cover crops and livestock on soil quality in the context of organic farming.

Our student, Carmen García Villalobos, has presented her master’s thesis from the Miguel Hernández University in collaboration with the IRNAS-CISC within the framework of the Biocover project, focused on sustainable agronomic practices representative of organic agriculture designed to preserve organic matter and soil nutrients, maintain production and increase the resilience of ecosystems in the face of global change. Specifically, the effects of the addition of organic alperujo compost, plant covers and livestock on soil quality were evaluated with the aim of developing strategies that increase production and favor the resistance capacity of the agricultural ecosystem, focused on Mediterranean ecosystems. The work, which can be found in the repository of the Miguel Hernández University (http://dspace.umh.es/handle/11000/1353?author_page=1&locale=en) and whose evaluation result was a 9, represents a step more towards the sustainability of Mediterranean agroecosystems.
